Ecological Services Coordinator

Overview

The Acquisition, Stewardship, and Planning Department is recruiting to fill one vacancy for Ecological Services Coordinator. This on-site position will be headquartered in Oakland, CA. The Ecological Services Coordinator specializes in obtaining and ensuring compliance with permits from State and Federal regulatory agencies to protect biological resources, and in evaluating projects to identify and minimize potential impacts to sensitive resources. This position will often work as part of an interdisciplinary team as a biological resources specialist guiding projects through the complex environmental permitting and compliance process.

The hiring pools established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancy and any additional vacancies that may occur during the one-year life of the hiring pools.

Under direction, assists and complements the Environmental Services Manager by monitoring, researching, and surveying the wildlife throughout the Park District; assesses projects, consulting with regulatory agencies and obtaining legally binding State and Federal permits, biological opinions, and/or authorizations for a wide variety of projects; ensures environmental compliance by monitoring construction projects; provides valuable ecological resource information that affects decisions made by internal departments;
