Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting
Responsible for preparing, reviewing and analyzing the Corporation's actual, forecast and budget submissions to the parent company.
Assists in the assessment and improvements/enhancements required to ensure accurate, timely and controlled reports.
Requires acquiring a working knowledge of International Accounting Standards (IAS). Serves as a consultant to management.
May act in a lead capacity.
Job DescriptionEssential Job Functions
- Assist in the redesign of the existing process of reporting to the parent company to ensure that results reported are accurate, produced within requisite deadlines, utilize new information systems capabilities, and are managed in a controlled process.
- Proactively communicate with Management and the parent company on potential reporting issues and propose solutions and alternatives.
- Work with the parent company, business segments, and Corporate Finance to manage new reporting requests and requirement changes.
- Develop a good understanding of IAS adjustments.
- Develop good working relationship with parent company, and lines of business to answer questions and manage changes to reports and requests.
- Analyze trends/variances contained in prepared reports to identify anomalies that require further investigation. Report findings to management.
- Liaise with the business development technology team to ensure that technology solutions are being utilized to the extent possible.
- Assist in compiling and reporting business KPIs.
Required Education or Equivalent Experience
Bachelor's Degree required
Master's/Advanced Degree preferred
Required Experience
7+ years in financial services industry, plus 6+ years of financial analysis
Administrative/Technical Skills/ Other Information
- Thorough knowledge of financial and cost accounting, financial analysis and principles of economics
- Thorough knowledge of financial institution balance sheet and profit and loss analysis techniques
- Thorough understanding of regulatory issues such as capital issues and GAAP accounting issues as they relate to the banking industry
- Thorough understanding and application of principles, standards, industry practices, techniques and concepts, as well as contributing to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop solutions to highly complex and diverse analytical problems which requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
- Knowledge of International Accounting Standards a plus
