The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to support complex projects across Northern California.
This role requires a senior-level designer capable of working on high-rise buildings, fire pump systems, and performing hydraulic calculations. The Designer will develop plans, create submittals, coordinate installations with field teams, and ensure projects meet all fire life safety codes and regulatory requirements.
While the position is primarily office-based in Oakland, designers will occasionally conduct field site surveys to create sketches and verify building conditions, helping ensure accurate system designs.

Key Responsibilities- Create fire sprinkler design plans, blueprints, and detailed drawings
- Perform hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems
- Design systems for high-rise buildings, fire pump systems, and complex projects
- Prepare and submit submittal packages to contractors and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
- Obtain permits and coordinate approvals with local jurisdictions
- Coordinate closely with field installation teams to ensure design accuracy
- Communicate timelines and project updates to customers and contractors
- Order materials and components needed for field installations
- Support sales, service, and field teams with code expertise
- Follow up on submittals and approvals to maintain project schedules
- Conduct site surveys and develop sketches for design accuracy
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously from design through completion
- Minimum 5+ years of fire sprinkler design experience in the Fire Life Safety industry
- Strong knowledge of Fire Life Safety codes including:
- NFPA
- California Fire Code (CFC)
- International Building Code (IBC)
- International Fire Code (IFC)
- Ability to perform hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems
- Experience reviewing specifications, contract drawings, and bid plans
- Experience coordinating field teams to ensure installations follow design plans
- Proficiency with:
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with MEP design tools such as AutoSPRINK, Alarm
CAD, or Hydra
CAD strongly preferred - NICET certification is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
