WSP is seeking a full‑time Vice President, Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead our Southern California projects. The role may be based at any of WSP’s California offices.
About the RoleIn this leadership position, you will support the California Regional Transportation team, delivering roadway and civil engineering projects for local agencies and Caltrans.
Key Responsibilities- People & Performance Leadership
- Assist in growth and development of the Civil Engineering Transportation team.
- Partner closely with the Local Business Leader and Senior Management team.
- Focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators and overall success of the West Region.
- Mentor staff and support their professional development.
- Recruit for new key positions and retain current staff.
- Business Development
- Support clients and the industry with innovative transportation solutions.
- Collaborate with local offices and national transport experts.
- Assist with contract procurement and client engagement.
- Develop strategic alliances and project partners.
- Represent the firm at client and industry events.
- Project & Program Management
- Lead delivery of roadway and transit projects for Caltrans and other local agencies.
- Serve as Contract Manager / Project Manager / Senior Lead as required.
- Participate in contract negotiations.
- Oversee project financial performance and risk management.
- Ensure quality of PS&E documents, reports, and memoranda.
- Perform additional duties as business needs dictate; occasional travel may be required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
- Engineer license required (California preferred).
- Advanced proficiency with Caltrans Design Development process, Highway Design and Construction practices.
- 12+ years of post‑education experience in civil engineering and infrastructure design.
- 10+ years of experience on Caltrans‑related projects.
- Experience as a project manager, deputy project manager, construction management or task lead.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Proficient in technical writing, Microsoft Office suite, and project budgeting.
- Established client relationships and industry contacts.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Experience working with Caltrans.
- Local agency roadway and intersection planning/design experience.
- PMP certification.
- Familiarity with design software (Micro Station, InRoads/Open Roads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D).

CompensationExpected salary: $203,000 - $285,200 (based on location, experience, and qualifications).
