Spanish Teacher Full-Time Temporary, Sabbatical Replacement – August to December 2026
The College Preparatory School, an independent high school in Oakland, California, seeks a temporary full-time Spanish teacher. This position involves teaching four sections of about sixteen students in each (levels 2 and
3).
The goals of the Spanish program are to create full‑immersion classrooms where students learn the language through activities designed to practice the different modes of communication (interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational) and to promote cultural competence. Our Spanish and other World Language teachers work closely with one another, honing and reshaping curriculum, assessments, and assignments.
Qualified Candidate- Have a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Spanish. A teaching credential is not required.
- Native or near‑native fluency in the language.
- Experience teaching Spanish at either the high school or college level.
- Have a teaching philosophy that centers cultural competence and performance‑based learning.
- Be eager to embrace spirited intellectual challenges in a rewarding academic environment.
- Have patience, flexibility, and a good sense of humor.
Faculty are compensated according to a step scale based on years of experience ranging from $72,500 for teachers with no prior relevant experience to $143,700 for teachers with forty‑four years of experience. Temporary hires are not eligible for benefits.
