Math Teacher, Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional
The College Preparatory School
The College Preparatory School, an independent high school in Oakland, California, seeks a full-time Math teacher beginning in August 2026. The College Prep Math program is rigorous, innovative, and grounded in deep mathematical inquiry. Our integrated curriculum spans algebra through calculus and extends into advanced topics including linear algebra, multivariable calculus, and abstract algebra, inviting students to experience mathematics as a rich, interconnected landscape of ideas.
We especially welcome educators who appreciate the growing interplay between mathematics and computational science.
In every class, teachers and students form a small mathematical community, exploring new ideas, testing conjectures, and deepening understanding through shared inquiry. Full‑time teachers teach four classes averaging 14 students each, typically with two to three preparations, and collaborate closely with colleagues to refine a curriculum that integrates application, review, and theory. We value teachers who help students build strong conceptual foundations while remaining connected to mathematics beyond the classroom and engaging with new ideas, advanced texts, and emerging developments in the field.
Math teachers share a spacious, sunlit office buzzing with mathematical conversation and collaboration, punctuated by Nespresso coffees and snacks. Whiteboards filled with proofs and problem solving invite ongoing dialogue, and teachers and students often continue mathematical conversations beyond the classroom. Faculty have opportunities to mentor independent studies. Peer feedback and shared curiosity are part of the daily rhythm. Math teachers also benefit from a robust professional development budget that supports both individual and collective exploration of content and pedagogy.

- A bachelor's or graduate degree in Math
