18 Reasons shares our culinary skills and creativity with low-income communities through Cooking Matters, a program offering free, six-week-long series of cooking and nutrition classes throughout the Bay Area. 18 Reasons is a non-profit cooking school that offers free cooking, budgeting, and nutrition classes across the Bay Area through our Cooking Matters program. Volunteers are part of a team that teach a full six-week series as either a volunteer chef, nutritionist, or class assistant.
The only requirements are an interest in healthy eating and cooking, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude. We are seeking volunteers to join our Cooking Matters teaching team as volunteer cooking educators, nutrition educators, or class assistants. There is no professional experience required to volunteer, just an interest in healthy eating and cooking, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.
We have volunteer opportunities in SF, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties.
- Teach the full six-week Cooking Matters series as a volunteer chef, nutritionist, or class assistant.
- Collaborate with a team to deliver cooking and nutrition education.
- Engage participants in hands-on cooking activities and nutrition discussions.
- Support program goals by fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Interest in healthy eating and cooking.
