Beginning Fall 2026.

College Prep seeks a .75 time Chemistry teacher beginning in August 2026. This teacher would teach 3 sections of approximately 16 students, likely 2 core chemistry courses and an advanced chemistry elective each semester. The College Prep science program prioritizes rigor, critical thinking, and hands‑on learning. Students are required to take Physics in 9th grade, Chemistry in 10th grade, and Biology in 11th grade.

Nearly all of our students choose to take one or more science electives in 12th grade, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Molecular Genetics, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Astronomy, Marine Biology, and Mechanics, Electricity, and Magnetism (among others). These courses are designed to prepare students for the depth and complexity of college‑level courses.

At College Prep, Science teachers share a spacious but cozy office where they regularly collaborate with one another and meet with students as needed. A friendly and collegial community, in addition to regular impromptu office chats, they meet monthly as a department, and weekly as teaching teams.

• Have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Physics
• Be prepared to teach a course on an advanced topic in Chemistry
• Have a minimum of three years experience teaching Science to students at the secondary or college level
• Have a strong interest in working in a multicultural community
• Be eager to embrace spirited intellectual challenges in a rewarding academic environment
• Have patience, flexibility and a good sense of humor

• Have a clear vision of the purpose and future of secondary level science education
• Have graduate training in Science
• Have experience or interest in teaching an applied science course

Candidates should be eager to spend additional time getting to know and help students outside of the classroom. College Prep teachers also take a share of other departmental, committee, and general school responsibilities, mostly during the 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. school day. Faculty at College Prep are compensated according to a step scale based on years of experience that ranges from $74,000 for teachers with no prior relevant experience to $148,500 for teachers with 44 years of prior experience. Benefits include medical and dental coverage, a retirement plan (to which the school contributes regardless of employee contribution), and a prepared lunch every day.
