Job Title:
Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Hybrid – 1 day/week onsite in Sacramento, CA; remainder remote (occasional travel required)
Type: Contract to Hire (9-month initial engagement)
Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder only
Pay Rate:$80/hr – $95/hr
Our client is embarking on a transformational Lean journey, aiming to build a culture of empowered problem solvers at all levels of the organization.
To support this mission, we are seeking a seasoned Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt who brings real-world experience
, not just theory, and can both teach and coach Lean principles to a broad audience. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, hands-on implementation experience
, and teaching/coaching ability
.
Training & Instruction (60%)
Co-deliver and facilitate weekly training sessions across multiple cohorts (virtual and onsite)
Shadow current instructor initially, then take ownership of specific sessions
Adapt content delivery based on audience experience level
Support hybrid format: typically 3 training days/week – many virtual (with 5-day virtual intensives every other week)
Provide 1:1 coaching to employees outside of sessions
Help develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in learners from diverse business functions
Support employees in applying Lean tools to real business challenges
Collaborate with the current instructor to enhance program content
Contribute to the development of training videos, visual management tools, and instructor guides
Recommend and integrate best practices for adult learning and continuous improvement
Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification required
10+ years of experience applying Lean in real business environments across industries
Proven ability to lead Lean transformations and coach others through the change process
Strong instructional and facilitation skills, including delivering training to varied organizational levels
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and internal clients (e.g., supply chain, operations, procurement)
Comfortable in hybrid work environments and able to travel to Sacramento weekly
Experience building visual management systems and using value stream mapping to drive change
Instructional design skills or familiarity with adult learning methodologies
Previous experience in utility, automotive, manufacturing, healthcare, or consulting environments
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with both analytical and hands-on team members
Structured, analytical, and practical
Humble, credible, and comfortable being both a coach and a collaborator
Capable of adapting communication to both seasoned Lean thinkers and complete beginners
