Temporary, Part-Time Faculty – Diesel Mechanics / Forklift Instructor

The Peralta Community College District invites applications for our Temporary, Part-Time Faculty pool in the discipline of Diesel Mechanics / Forklift Instruction.

$74.53 – $124.41 per hour. Salary placement based on education and experience per district agreement.

• Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university AND four (4) years of experience in Diesel Mechanics/Forklift.
• OR Possession of an Associate Degree from an accredited college AND six (6) years of experience in Diesel Mechanics/Forklift.
• OR May submit a satisfied California Community College Instructor Credential authorizing service to teach courses in Diesel Mechanics. (Certificates issued before July 1, 1990.)
• Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse backgrounds of community college students.

• Journeymanship papers or equivalent from a recognized organization.
• Recent experience in teaching Forklift Courses.
• Experience working with Automotive Trades Union for Heavy Duty Mechanics.
• Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and diesel educational programs.

Travel expenses for interview and selection process will be borne by the candidate. Skype and phone interviews are not permitted.

Appointment to the position is conditional upon the approval of the Chancellor.

Applicants must satisfy all district pre-employment requirements, including a tuberculosis examination, fingerprinting, immigration verification, and a Social Security Card. Required for all employees: TB test within 60 days. Fingerprinting within first 10 working days. Immigration verification per federal and state law. Social Security Card required prior to completion of hiring.
