Compensation: $74.53–$124.41 per hour (salary placement based on education, experience and other provisions outlined in the District's agreement with the Peralta Federation of Teachers).

Summary

The Peralta Community College District invites applications for our Temporary, Part‑Time Faculty pool in the discipline of History.

Duties & Responsibilities

Temporary part‑time faculty will teach history courses to community college students in a campus‑based setting. Faculty will develop and deliver instructional materials, prepare and grade assessments, and provide academic advising and student support.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s in history OR Bachelor’s in history AND Master’s in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, women’s studies, social science, or ethnic studies OR the equivalent.
  • May submit a fully satisfied lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential authorizing service to teach courses in History (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1 1990).
  • The equivalent qualifications (candidates who claim equivalency must provide conclusive evidence).
  • Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desirable Qualifications

Environmental Demands and Other Requirements are outlined in the District Handbook (link provided). For non‑Master’s degree disciplines, the District requires four years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience with an Associate’s degree.
