Position Overview

Merritt College is a public community college in Oakland, CA.

Position Title:

Instructor, Nursing (ADN program).

Employment Type:

Time Base 1.0 FTE; 10 months. Salary Range:
Step 20 - $113,376 to $129,033 per year.

• Teach assigned lecture and clinical courses in the nursing program, maintaining competency in nursing specialties.
• Coordinate the specialty content for the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program.
• Participate in development of policies and procedures, planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating all aspects of the program.
• Facilitate the implementation of the evaluation plan of the nursing programs, monitoring admissions, attrition, retention and performance of graduates.
• Assume responsibility for instruction, evaluation of students, curriculum planning and implementation.
• Participate in division/college/district committees to enrich the College, community, and profession.

• Valid California Nursing Instructor Credential (does not satisfy tenure requirements).
• Master’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, AND a Master’s Degree in Health Education or Health Science.
• Or equivalent qualifications from an accredited institution.
• Understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students.

• At least one year of teaching experience in nursing courses.
• Eligibility for or holding a California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Two years of recent direct patient care experience as an RN.
