Yu Ming Charter School is a non-profit, tuition-free network of public schools located in Oakland and San Leandro and open to all residents of California. We currently serve 1060 students across three campuses, and continue to grow our enrollment each year.

Mandarin Instructional Assistants report to the Assistant Principal and will be responsible for assisting in the classroom while fostering the social and emotional growth of students.

• Ability to organize data, schedules, and information collected and/or submitted by teachers.
• An aptitude to work with children and teachers; warmth, empathy and the desire to become involved in the instructional process.
• Flexibility and adaptability to change; ability to work in a dynamic, creative and start-up learning environment.
• Superb interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, colleagues and families.
• Ability to follow instructions and accept constructive suggestions and professional standards.

• Instruct individuals, small groups or classes of students within certificated teacher guidelines
• May prepare lesson plans, materials for lessons, and assess student progress
• Document student progress/activities/outcomes and provide regular feedback to student(s), classroom teachers, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
• May work with students to reinforce learning of material or skills as described in an Individualized Education Plan.
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of the individual student's needs, interests, and abilities.
• During the Extended Care After School Program, plan and independently lead engaging and age-appropriate activities that promote learning, social interaction, and skill development.
