- Teach multiple sections of middle school math, possibly an elective, and a grade‑level crew/advisory each day.
- Lead an advisory (Crew) daily; provide yard supervision up to twice per week; run a guided study hall or designated ELD course as needed.
- Implement culturally responsive pedagogy and an assets‑based approach for all students.
- Plan, internalize, and execute adopted, effective, grade‑level standards‑based curriculum and units.
- Differentiate while maintaining rigor to provide grade‑level access for all student subgroups.
- Utilize formative and summative assessments (Schoology, MAP, etc.) to identify and address student growth.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Build a supportive, learning‑centered classroom culture with strong management and efficient procedures.
- Create positive teacher‑student, student‑student, and teacher‑family relationships.
- Engage in continuous professional development and growth as a teacher.
- Demonstrate advocacy, flexibility, collegiality, and self‑awareness.
- Maintain policies and procedures in a professional and timely manner per LCPS, state, and federal mandates.
- B.A. or B.S., required.
- Applicable California Teaching Credential or commitment to obtain one, with unofficial transcripts if not yet licensed.
- Valid Certificate of Clearance, required.
- Knowledge of California Common Core State Standards and mastery‑based learning, preferred.
- 2+ years teaching urban youth with transformational results, preferred.
- Experience with educational platforms.
- Experience teaching in a progressive school model, preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.
- Loud environments such as cafeterias, playgrounds, classrooms.
- Indoor/outdoor adaptability for all weather conditions.
- Air‑conditioned and heated environments under fluorescent lighting.
See and hear continuously, speak frequently; sit and stand for extended periods; lift up to 25 pounds; walk for long periods; perform repetitive finger movements for keyboarding and whiteboard use; supervise students outdoors; occasional travel for professional development.
SupervisionThis position reports to the School Principal or Principal’s designee.
Time Commitment1.0 FTE (full‑time exempt), 10‑month (190‑day) work year with significant student‑free days. New staff will report late July/early August 2026, per the LCPS calendar for 26‑27SY.
