A unique opportunity is available for an experienced marketing professional to mentor an indie rock musician in Oakland, CA. This role focuses on providing strategic guidance and hands-on support to shape the artist’s marketing direction, ensuring that all content and outreach efforts authentically reflect the indie music aesthetic. The mentor will play a pivotal role in developing a cohesive visual and promotional style for upcoming releases, leveraging both concert and studio content to maximize audience engagement and brand growth.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the indie music landscape and a proven track record of helping artists build their brand and content strategy over extended periods.

• Provide expert mentorship on marketing strategy tailored to the indie music sector
• Advise on developing a consistent visual and promotional style for new releases
• Guide the creation and curation of content from concerts and studio sessions
• Support the planning and execution of authentic outreach campaigns
• Offer actionable feedback on branding, audience engagement, and content direction
• Collaborate with the artist to ensure all marketing efforts align with their creative vision

• Significant senior-level experience in music marketing, preferably with indie artists
• Strong understanding of the indie music industry, trends, and audience expectations
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide artists in brand and content development
• Expertise in visual branding, content strategy, and promotional planning
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to provide ongoing support over a period longer than one week
• Familiarity with digital marketing tools and social media platforms relevant to music promotion
• Based in or able to work with clients in the Oakland, CA area (remote collaboration possible)
