About Elicit
Elicit is an AI research assistant that uses language models to help researchers figure out what’s true and make better decisions, starting with common research tasks like literature review.
What we're aiming for:
Elicit radically increases the amount of good reasoning in the world.
For experts, Elicit pushes the frontier forward.
For non-experts, Elicit makes good reasoning more affordable. People who don t have the tools, expertise, time, or mental energy to make well-reasoned decisions on their own can do so with Elicit.
Elicit is a scalable ML system based on human-understandable task decompositions, with supervision of process, not outcomes. This expands our collective understanding of safe AGI architectures.

Why we re hiring for this roleWe have product-market fit, with several hundreds of thousands of monthly active users, a few million in ARR since launching our paid subscription last year, and significant inbound enterprise interest every day. This has been energizing for our team, but we want to take it to the next level. We dream of helping significantly more people with more types of thinking.
That’s where you come in. Take the foundations we’ve established and build something with an even bigger impact. There is no other role like this. You’ll work in a space where every day brings leaps forward in the technological capabilities of the models. You’ll build entirely new, language-model-first paradigms. You’ll prioritize true, lasting impact and not short-term profits.
Lead machine-learning based projects from concept through launch. You’ll lead the team’s approach toward new functionality and improvements in Elicit by setting the product vision, generating and validating solutions, and evolving experiences to have the greatest possible impact. You’ll drive projects end-to-end, from prototype to implementation to later iteration.
Solving Elicit’s toughest product challenges. You will rarely (if ever) start with a defined product project ’ll get to work across functions to push the progression of the product and shape how Elicit works. We need you to think through intuitive, focused product solutions to help our users get the most accurate and relevant information out of Elicit.
Embodying the voice of our users. You’ll work with the team to develop a deep understanding of users’ behaviors, drive user research, and leverage that information into hypotheses and design experiments that guide us toward the best user outcomes.
Ensuring the success of new Elicit features. You’ll work closely with the Head of Product, our CEO, and our team of engineers, ML engineers and designers to define the product strategy & roadmap, define success metrics for new features and improvements to Elicit, ensure high-quality implementation, and ship at a high velocity.
ML foundational competency: you have 2+ years working in ML and/or with LLMs. You are comfortable shipping some simple PRs and doing basic eval work yourself.
Execution excellence. You take full ownership and get things done. You have a proven track record (6+ years) of launching new products that drive long-term customer love and business impact. You are comfortable across the full stack of product management - defining success, writing specs, talking to users, running analytics, prioritizing feature work, managing releases, etc. You have led a multi-functional team of engineers and designers and managed products across their full life cycle.
Early-stage mindset. You thrive in the high-velocity, high ambiguity, "zero to one” early stages of product building. You re willing to do the unglamorous work early on, then systematize what works. You have hands-on experience at early-stage, fast-growing startups, working directly with design and engineering teams.
Customer obsession. You re genuinely excited about working with researchers and have an instinct for uncovering their deepest needs and pain points.
First-principles thinking. There are no experts on AI research assistants yet -…
