Our long-time in-house Accountant Director is retiring. We are seeking an individual who can come alongside her and learn our unique Harley-Davidson-required software, and help provide a seamless transition as she exits. Initially, this will require learning tasks that may seem simple, but are required in order to understand the overall complexities of the role. This positions interacts closely with the two on-site owners in these-privately held businesses.
This role not only supports the Accounting Director, but will transition into this position. Initially, this role will be responsible for AP/AR, account reconciliations, data entry and providing administrative support, among other tasks. The role will be managing accounting to the bottom line, being tax-motivated within legal limits.
As our current accountant director provides training, this position will transition into the Accounting Director position, which is responsible for payroll, tax payments, financial reporting, monthly and year-end closings and ultimately all accounting processes for our two dealerships. Additional support provided as you train other administrative personnel, however, daily work is performed independently. The ability to interact with non-financial personnel and interpret financial information to assist them in executing their responsibilities is a very desirable skill.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word required.
Excellent attention to detail and organizations skills.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Previous work experience in an office environment is a plus.
Specific Responsibilities Initially- Examine and distribute vendor invoices and other payment requests to appropriate general ledger account classifications.
- Process invoices, receipts, and payments, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
- Maintain vendor records and track outstanding obligations payable and vendor credit memos by due date so as to optimize cash flow and take full advantage of attractive vendor payment terms.
- Issue checks in payment of merchandise purchases, supplies, services and customer accommodations.
- Prepare and mail invoices each month and follow up with delinquent accounts as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions, ensuring data integrity.
- Assist in reconciling accounts.
- Perform 10 key typing tasks to ensure quick and accurate data input.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Resolve accounting issues as they arise in the daily processing of dealership transactions.
- Investigate and trace errors and record adjustments to correct inadvertent postings to incorrect accounts.
- Audit and resolve any anomalies encountered in daily financial transaction as recorded by others.
- Compile payroll information for submissions to an external payroll service
- Comply with all tax authority requirements, making timely deposits of required taxes.
- Reconcile all subsidiary ledgers to general ledger control balances monthly.
- Prepare and review monthly trial balances, general ledger detail postings, financial statements and other financial reports and statistics.
- Submit financial and statistical data to the Harley-Davidson Dealer Dashboard.

- Compensation amount is dependent upon qualifications: $32 - $40 per hour.
