Position: Parks Aide - Part Time 19 - SWIM Central - Parks Administration

Position Overview

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Parks Aide – Part Time 19 for SWIM Central at Parks Administration Offices. This job announcement will remain open until a sufficient number of applications are received.

General Description

Perform field visits at pools throughout Broward County to ensure vendors comply with SWIM Central guidelines. Attend community events throughout the county and interact with the general public and vendors. Perform a variety of park maintenance and program implementation activities at assigned facilities. Work under close general supervision according to set procedures, but determine how or when to complete tasks.

Scope of Work

Interact with the public and other County employees to provide directions or information, explain work activities/procedures, identify service needs, and resolve day‑to‑day operational issues; collect fees and operate a cash register or point of sale software as required. Maintain a variety of landscape and construction equipment to ensure safe operation, extend useful life, and minimize downtime and repair costs. Inspect park facilities—including play areas, buildings, and parking—to maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment.

Set up and take down temporary facilities and traffic control devices for meetings, special activities, or events to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow. Prepare log sheets to document work activities, track equipment usage, and provide summary information to management. Pick up and deliver items to appropriate locations, ensuring supplies are available when needed and deliver mail. Perform related work as assigned.

Physical Demands
:
Perform light to medium work involving walking or standing virtually all of the time and exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force regularly. Requires skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands, or limbs for tasks requiring close tolerances or accuracy.

Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment):
Routine and frequent exposure to traffic, moving machinery, and toxic/caustic chemicals.

Qualifications
  • Minimum education:

    Requires six (6) months of general grounds and facility maintenance, customer service, recreational activities, and/or a point‑of‑sale system experience or related experience.
  • Special certifications and licenses:
    Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver’s License based on area of assignment.
  • Preferences:
    Must work a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Background:
    All candidates must complete an extensive ten (10) year work history verification and criminal background check, including a post‑offer physical examination. Must clear DCF’s Affidavit of Good Moral Character and be able to maintain authorization to operate a county vehicle/equipment.
