Tax Manager – Pathway to Partnership (If You Want It)
If you’ve hit that point in your career where you know you’re capable of more, more ownership, more influence, more say in how things are done, but the ladder above you is either moving too slowly or stacked too full…
This could be the step you’ve been waiting for.
You’ll join a firm that’s been around for 100+ years but feels closer to the modern, entrepreneurial side of public accounting than the rigid, layered one. They’ve chosen to stay independent, to think long-term, and to grow without ever selling out.
Just a tight team (around 25 people) where you actually matter.
What you’ll be doingYou’ll manage and review a broad mix of tax work, corporate, partnership, individual, and trusts/estates with plenty of autonomy in how you run your portfolio. This isn’t a compliance mill. You’ll be involved in planning, advising, and shaping the direction of client relationships, not just pushing returns through.
You ll be working with complex, technical clients. Not small mom and pop businesses.
If you’re entrepreneurial or curious about building something of your own one day, even better. You don’t need to bring a book, the firm has a strong client base, but if you do add new relationships, you’ll receive 15% commission for life plus 9% profit-sharing contributions.
You get to grow without the pressure of sourcing your own client list.
Why people choose this firm- Young, ambitious leadership (your future peers, not gatekeepers)
- Clear runway to Partnership or ownership if that’s where you want to go
- Independence is a core value — they have zero intention of selling
- They’re actively taking on new clients, M&A conversations, and expanding thoughtfully
- OT is paid or can be taken as time off — you choose
- Stability and entrepreneurship — the rare combination
- ~8+ years in public accounting
- Strong review and compliance experience (closely-held businesses + individuals)
- CPA preferred (EA considered)
- Trust & Estate experience a plus, but not a deal breaker
This role suits someone who’s ready to contribute not someone content to coast. If you’ve felt stuck beneath a Partner who isn’t moving, or like you’re a small fish in a very large pond, this could be where everything opens up.
