Under the general supervision of the Justice for Families Program Coordinator, this role provides supervision and oversight for families utilizing the OVW Justice for Families supervised visitation and safe exchange program in Anderson County. The supervisor provides supervision for families who have a history of domestic violence to ensure a safe, secure environment for visitation and exchanges. The role delivers non‑judgmental services with an emphasis on healthy relationships and healing from violence in a safe and supportive environment.
Services will be provided at the Oak Ridge site of YWCA Knoxville and the Tennessee Valley. This position will require consistent evening and weekend hours.
Duties and Responsibilities- Using knowledge of YWCA programs and policies, promote YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley’s Mission Statement in the community and interact with other YWCA personnel, volunteers, and staff to meet the goals of the program. Participate in YWCA activities as required.
- Recruit, develop, and maintain positive relationships with community partners including court personnel. Ensure successful execution of programming focused on safety, empowerment, and the understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence.
- Provide trauma‑informed supervision and coordination to families who have experienced violence within their relationships. Document observations during visits and exchanges. Intervene during the visits or exchanges if a parent’s behavior becomes unsafe for the child(ren). Report all incidents of suspected child abuse or neglect to Program Coordinator, as well as following all mandated reporting policies.
- Provide a safe environment for families by upholding all security policies and procedures. Keep the visitation center clean and orderly and prepare the visitation center prior to families arriving. Ensure age‑appropriate items are available prior to visits.
- Assist in visitation scheduling utilizing best practices and guiding principles of supervised visitation programming. Conduct intake interviews with new clients and facilitate goal planning with participants using a trauma‑informed approach, in addition to assessing for appropriateness for services.
- Maintain professional relationships with parents, family members, and children. Treat all family members with respect and without judgement. Participate in ongoing assessment and evaluation of the family’s goals. Provide verbal feedback to families regarding their conduct and progress in the visits.
- Track statistical data for assigned clients, maintain data quality, and input services and goals as directed.
- Ensure successful execution of standards, policies and procedures of confidentiality, and programming focused on empowerment and safety.
- Work collaboratively as an integral part of the YWCA Victim Services team, offering guidance and support to other staff.
- Attend scheduled staff and agency‑wide meetings.
- Assist the Justice for Families Program Coordinator with special projects as requested and understand that flexibility is a key component of the position.
- Assure that confidentiality is maintained regarding all client information and agency proprietary information, including but not limited to record storage, organization, and maintenance in compliance with VAWA, HIPAA, and other confidentiality policies, laws, and requirements.
