Duties:
SUMMARY: The Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Quality Control Inspector ensures that all electrical and instrumentation systems installed at DOE facilities comply with rigorous safety, technical, and regulatory requirements. This position involves inspecting complex, high-voltage electrical installations, control systems, and instrumentation to ensure conformance to project specifications and requirements (e.g., codes, standards, specifications, regulatory, and contractual requirements).
Non-conforming conditions, including suspect/counterfeit items, identified during the inspection and testing process shall be identified, documented, and dispositioned in accordance with established processes/procedures.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- Field Inspection & Testing: Perform in-process, final, and receiving inspections of electrical and I&C systems, including high-voltage switch gear, motor control centers (MCCs), conduit/cable tray installation, grounding systems, lighting, and instrumentation (transmitters, valves, sensors).
- Quality Compliance: Ensure all installations adhere to the applicable codes, standards and regulations. Examples include National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, ASME, IEEE, and DOE-specific Orders.
- Safety-Related Inspections: Perform inspections on Safety Class (SC) and Safety Significant (SS) electrical and I&C structures, systems, and components (SSCs) to ensure they perform their intended safety functions.
- Nonconformance Management: Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming items in accordance with Quality Assurance Program. Ensure that Conditions Adverse to Quality (CAQ) are reported immediately and support cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Suspect/Counterfeit Item (S/CI) Prevention: Conduct rigorous visual and documentation checks to prevent the entry of Suspect or Counterfeit Items into systems.
- M&TE Control: Verify that all Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) used for electrical and I&C testing is calibrated, traceable to national standards and properly maintained per Quality Assurance Program
- Work Control & Procedures: Verify that all work is performed under "suitably controlled conditions" using the latest approved revisions of drawings, specifications, and procedures.
- Documentation and Records: maintain documentation, ensuring all records are legible, accurate, and provide full traceability for every inspection point.
- Maintain Certification: Meet the requirements for Level II or Level III Inspector qualification as defined by ASME NQA-1 or ANSI N45.2.6.

Bac helor’s degree in quality assurance, quality control management or engineering discipline such as mechanical, industrial or manufacturing engineering or other related technical field or demonstrated equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
Experience: Entry-level position for college graduate.
8+ years of relevant experience is required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree; or 4 years of relevant experience required with an associate degree.
