Lead Structural Designer
Amentum is currently seeking a Lead Structural Designer with experience in developing 3D models for steel, concrete, and masonry for the Nuclear Projects division in Oak Ridge, TN.
EducationMinimum high school diploma or GED.
Requirements- 10+ years’ experience
- Designer experience in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
- Detailing experience for steel and concrete.
- Ability to autonomously develop 3D models.
- Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD suite of tools.
- 1 year experience working in detailing shop or in field at project site.
- Experience working on industrial projects.
- Experience with REVIT highly preferred.
- Experience working with heavy industrial and nuclear projects.
- Q Clearance.
- Experience with Tekla Structures.
- Experience with Microstation.
- Experience with Smart Plant 3D.
Physical Requirements:
Work is primarily sedentary. Some walking and standing may occur during a normal workday in connection with travel to and from meeting and conferences. May transport light items, such as reports, data products, notebooks and laptops.
Cubical environment. May be in a restricted work area.
Criticality of AttendanceMust be able to work within the normal daytime shift in the office in Oak Ridge. Except for STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.
Equipment and MachinesStandard office equipment and machines: personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies. Personal computer and required CAD software.
Other Essential Functions- Must be able to secure and maintain a security clearance.
- Must pass drug testing.
- Must be able to read and write effectively in English.
- Must embrace Safety ethics of Amentum to include adhering to safe work practices and standards while performing daily tasks, taking responsibility for own and coworkers’ safekeeping and encouraging others to work safely.
- Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, clients, co-workers and organization.

- Must be able to work under supervision and respond appropriately and professionally to criticism from a supervisor.
- Travel requirements - may require some occasional travel.
