The Laboratory Technician will support laboratory and operational activities across Standard Nuclear’s facilities, with responsibilities spanning sample handling, material transfers, basic laboratory operations, and data recording. This role supports work in the characterization laboratory as well as material movement and preparation activities that enable safe and efficient operations. The Laboratory Technician will follow established procedures, maintain accurate records, and work closely with technical and operations teams to support daily laboratory execution.
This position is well-suited for a detail-oriented individual with hands-on experience in laboratory or industrial environments who values accuracy, safety, and procedural discipline.
- Laboratory & Characterization Support
- Assist with laboratory operations in the characterization area, including basic sample preparation and handling.
- Support operation of laboratory equipment under established procedures and supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of laboratory work areas.
- Material Handling & Transfers
- Support safe transfer, staging, and movement of materials between laboratory and operational areas.
- Follow material control, labeling, and tracking requirements during all transfers.
- Assist with packaging, storage, and preparation of materials for laboratory use or downstream processing.
- Data Recording & Documentation
- Accurately record laboratory data, observations, and process information in logs, forms, or electronic systems.
- Maintain organized and complete records in accordance with quality and procedural requirements.
- Support data review and verification activities as required.
- Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Follow all environmental health & safety (EH&S), radiological protection, and quality assurance procedures.
- Use required personal protective equipment and adhere to safe work practices.
- Immediately report abnormal conditions, equipment issues, or safety concerns to supervision.
- Team & Operational Support
- Work collaboratively with laboratory staff, engineers, and operations personnel to support daily priorities.
- Assist with general laboratory and operational tasks as needed to meet organizational objectives.
- Experience working in a laboratory, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with basic laboratory practices, sample handling, and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
- Comfort working in regulated environments and following safety requirements.
- Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds as required.
- Technical, associate, or trade background preferred; degree not required.
- Prior experience in radiological, chemical, or materials-related environments is a plus but not required.
