Resident Care Director

Position Summary:

The Resident Care Director oversees the delivery of high‑quality care to residents in a licensed assisted‑living facility. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with state regulations, managing the resident care budget, and fostering a compassionate environment that honors the Resident Bill of Rights.

Responsibilities
  • Model a business philosophy that treats every resident and family member as a personal customer.
  • Ensure retention of residents and coordination of services in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Directly oversee the completion of clinical assessments, service plans, medication management, and infection control.
  • Recruit, interview, evaluate, motivate, and supervise the direct care staff; conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing training.
  • Coordinate departmental schedules and staffing to meet facility standards, budgets, and state licensing requirements.
  • Conduct orientation for new team members and maintain a thorough record of resident status and progress.
  • Communicate changes in resident health or family concerns to the Executive Director and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the care team in setting and achieving outcome goals, including pressure‑ulcer prevention and skin integrity maintenance.
  • Serve as the primary responder during emergency drills, evacuations, or other crisis conditions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information and report any non‑compliance or abuse to appropriate authorities.
  • Perform any additional duties as directed by the Executive Director or facility policies.
Qualifications
  • Valid LPN or RN license in good standing, issued by the state and obtained from an approved state school of nursing.
  • At least one (1) year of full‑time or equivalent clinical experience in assisted‑living or related setting.
  • Strong knowledge of assisted‑living regulations, business conduct standards, and health‑care facility operations.
  • Proficiency in resident care management, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to work effectively with staff, residents, families, and regulatory agencies.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Requirements
  • Adherence to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and employment terms.
  • Annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
  • Ability to respond to emergency conditions and potential call‑back situations.
  • Commitment to continuous training and skill competency as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday and lift up to 25 pounds continuously.
  • Capability to manage the mental and emotional demands of the position.
  • Ability to see, hear, or use prosthetics sufficient to perform all job functions.
  • Capacity to assist with resident evacuation during emergencies.
