Summer School Mentor/Teacher - Secondary

The Summer School Mentor/Teacher will be responsible for facilitating a group of 30+ students taking individualized, on-line courses for credit recovery via Edgenuity Online Courseware. Responsibilities will include enrolling students in and navigating Edgenuity course management system, teaching students how to use Edgenuity to take the online courses (training provided), monitoring student achievement via online reports, coaching/encouraging students toward successful course completion, problem solving/assisting students with questions, completing paperwork accurately as requested by administration, managing student behavior independently, communicating with area schools regarding student achievement, and complying with provided handbook policies/procedures.
Qualifications- A Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with any secondary subject endorsement. Multiple endorsements preferred.
- Possess a valid Secondary Michigan Teaching Certificate.
- Prefer teaching experience at the Secondary level.
- Prefer online course participation experience.
- Demonstrated successful experience utilizing technology as an instructional tool.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve common technical computer use issues (i.e. – login issues, web browsing, computer cable connections, calling technical support, chat rooms for tech support, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability building positive relationships with at-risk youth.
- Demonstrated successful communication skills with students, staff, administrators, parents and community (phone, email, and in-person).
- Demonstrated success as a collaborator and proven team player.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Michigan Grade Level and High School Content Expectations with a familiarity of the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Math.
- Must be available to attend Edgenuity training after school hours. This is paid time (up to four hours) prior to the start date of summer school.
Monday-Friday.
Session 1:
June 15 - July 3; 7:45am – 12:15 pm ~up to 2 classrooms/session.
Session 2:
July 6 - July 24; 7:45am – 12:15pm~ up to 2 classrooms/session.
Student sessions are 8am-12pm.

Pay Rate$33.00/hour until July 1, 2026 and $34.07/hour as of July 1, 2026.
(Including four hours of paid time prior to the start of sessions for training and to set up class schedules.)
