Pay Range: $38.02–$55.18 per hour

Summary

The Manager of food and nutrition services is responsible, either personally or through delegation, for the effective and efficient operation in order to meet revenue, expenses, employee engagement and customer satisfaction targets for the Food and Nutrition Services at RUSH Oak Park Hospital. Develops and implements concepts for Retail and Cafeteria using trend analysis and financial management principles. This individual, along with the AVP/Sr.

Director and department leadership team, will determine the services the department can provide given the staff available, continually assessing and improving performance. The incumbent ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies, oversees the department quality monitors and targets, and enforces corporate and departmental policies and procedures. The manager exemplifies Rush ICARE values and operates services consistent with the mission and vision and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food and Nutrition, Food Systems Management, or Hospitality Management or equivalent work experience
  • Five years or more of operations, financial management, and leadership experience working in a fast‑paced food environment
  • Food Protection Manager Certification and Allergen Certification required within 90 days of hire
  • Self‑directed, strong interpersonal skills (both verbal and written), excellent organization skills, problem identification and solving skills, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to compile and summarize management reports and implement PowerPoint presentations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist preferred

Responsibilities
  • Delivers operational performance by executing Rush’s and regulatory agency standards and programs. Continually monitors operations for areas of improvement and completes assessments, developing action plans to provide optimal food and nutrition services to patients, employees, and clients.
  • Plans, organizes, and manages the resources and activities at ROPH to accomplish the strategic plan consistent with Rush’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Assures that both the food and nutritional needs of patients are provided for and effectively evaluated utilizing appropriate software to obtain menu selection, streamline production, and analyze nutrient content of the patient menu.
  • In collaboration with the AVP/Sr. Director develops an Emergency Preparedness plan to ensure safe food supply during an emergency crisis.
  • Develops unit budgets, allocates resources to assure optimum operational functions, identifies capital needs, monitors the financials monthly to achieve budget goals, and submits monthly report variances and action plans to AVP for improvement.
  • Defines staffing needs (number of team members and specific competencies) to accomplish objectives and meet department responsibilities. Oversees HR functions (hiring, onboarding, staff development, and performance appraisal) consistent with Rush’s diversity program.
  • Maintains liaison with other medical center departments. Fosters interdepartmental communication through participation in regular meetings, town halls, and staff meetings.
  • Develops and implements concepts for assigned retail units.
