Responsibilities
- Provides all elements of pre-anesthesia, anesthesia and post-anesthesia services including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care consistent with anesthesia plan and in collaboration with the surgeon/anesthesiologist/surgical team.
- Manages conditions based on clinical indication, evidence-based care, cost effectiveness, and assessment of risks/benefits and alternatives.
- Participates in preoperative evaluation including assessment, exam, obtaining informed consent, ordering/administering pre‑medications, and review of preoperative studies.
- Ensures readiness and availability of equipment, supplies and medications to perform the planned anesthetic.
- Delivers anesthesia care including induction, maintenance, support of life functions, and emergence from anesthesia.
- Selects, obtains, and administers the necessary anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, fluids, and temperature regulating devices to manage the anesthetic, assesses response, and intervenes as needed.
- Performs post-anesthesia duties including staying with the patient and facilitating safe transfer of care to other qualified individuals; administering post-operative epidural pain relief and other post-operative analgesia in collaboration with the surgeon; and addressing the presence or absence of anesthesia-related complications.
- Manage emergency situations by assessing, stabilizing, and determining disposition of patients, including advanced airway management, administration of emergency drugs and fluids, and use of basic and advanced cardiac life support techniques.
- Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record; substantiates and submits professional services consistent with compliant coding and billing practices.
- Participates in quality, safety and peer review initiatives/performance activities, meetings and committees, peer review, and work groups as necessary.
- Participates in education and/or onboarding of new team members, students, and other health care professionals.
- Seeks experiences to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and advance the profession within and outside of the organization.
- Maintains standards of productivity, access, face-to-face time, and quality metrics to ensure optimal, safe and timely patient care delivery.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and understands age-specific needs; adheres to department policies and procedures.
- MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Active RN, and APRN/APRN-FPA/APNP or other APRN license(s) in state(s) of practice, AND
- Active national board certification as CRNA by NBCRNA
- Active DEA registration prior to hire
- If Illinois practice: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire
- Active ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical site/practice and/or role prior to or within 6 months of hire
- Education Required:
Master’s Degree in Nursing - Experience

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective member of a health care team.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technology and proficiency with the electronic medical record.
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with and establish/build relationships with others.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
- Must have functional vision and hearing.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
- Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids hazards.
- Will be required to wear gloves, goggles and gowns on an as-needed basis.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
