Position
Description:
The Social Studies Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction to high schools students while fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment and collaborating with colleagues to ensure academic success.
Essential Functions
* Design and deliver standards-based lessons in social studies courses as assigned.
* Create a culturally responsive classroom that respects and celebrates students' diverse backgrounds.
* Use various instructional strategies to meet all learners' academic, social, and emotional needs.
* Integrate current events, primary sources, and technology to enhance student engagement and understanding.
* Foster an environment that promotes inquiry, discussion, and active participation.
* Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and instructional practices.
* Maintain regular communication with students, families, and staff regarding student progress.
* Desire to pursue professional growth, develop new methodologies, and incorporate technology.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Social Studies or a related field.
* Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) in Social Studies.,
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Strong Understanding of Social Science Content:
Knowledge of US History, World History, Geography, US Government, and Economics.
* Classroom Management:
Ability to manage a diverse classroom effectively.
* Collaboration
Skills:
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
* Cultural Competence:
Ability to foster an inclusive environment celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity.
