The ESY Special Educator provides individualized special education instruction and supports during the Extended School Year to help eligible students maintain skills. This role implements ESY services aligned to IEP goals, collaborates with staff and families, and monitors student progress throughout the program.

Minimum QualificationsValid Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement, and ability to implement ESY services aligned to student IEP goals and required supports.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:- Support the Mission, Vision, and Goals of Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 and uphold Board policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Provide ESY services aligned to IDEA and each student’s IEP, focused on maintaining critical skills and preventing significant regression (not general summer school).
- Review IEP goals, progress data, and service plans prior to ESY to ensure instruction aligns to identified regression/recoupment needs.
- Plan and deliver targeted ESY instruction and interventions using appropriate methods and materials for assigned students.
- Implement IEP accommodations, modifications, and behavior/safety supports (including BIPs and safety plans) and maintain consistent routines.
- Collaborate with related service providers, nursing staff, and paraprofessionals to ensure coordinated support and consistent implementation across settings.
- Provide supervision and support as needed across ESY routines (arrival/dismissal, transitions, classroom, and community-based activities when applicable).
- Collect, document, and maintain required data and records related to ESY service delivery and student progress toward targeted IEP goals.
- Communicate with families regarding ESY routines, attendance expectations, and general progress updates consistent with District procedures.
- Participate in ESY staff meetings, trainings, and planning sessions as assigned; maintain and improve professional competence.
- Meet physical and attendance requirements; perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support ESY programming and student needs.
