Summary
Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non‑Appropriated Fund (NAF) Community Recreation, Fleet Readiness;
Commander, Navy Installations command (CNIC); NAS Whidbey Island.
- Perform a variety of duties in support of Morale, Welfare and Recreation Community Recreation program that includes special events, recreation information/resources, command events, visiting ships or fleet support, community events, trips, tours, outings, party and picnic rental equipment, resale tickets, bowling, Library, movies and outdoor recreation rentals, Paintball, and DIY Auto Program.
- Demonstrate customer service while attending to front counter operations such as use of point of sale systems, collecting fees/cash handling associated with sale of tickets and rental items, accountable for accuracy of daily sales transactions, assisting customers with questions, complaints and suggestions, facility inspections and cleaning of recreation Center and park spaces.
- Conduct and maintain inventories of equipment, retail goods, rental supplies and items for proper accountability.
- Perform entertainment and promotion scheduling of upcoming trips, classes and events.
- Issue game equipment, perform general housekeeping, check out of bowling equipment and Library books.
- Handle cash and operate a point of sale system; must be capable of driving a 15 passenger van.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required.
- Availability to work special events, weekends and holidays.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, walk, push, reach, climb, and lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
- Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid, Food Handler’s certification, and Alcohol safety training within 90 days of hire.
- Work may require climbing in and around equipment and moving towable equipment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
- Ability to work independently.
- One year of practical work experience.
- Ability to organize, plan and administer events and programs and entertainment activities.
- Knowledge of goals, principles and techniques and procedures used in organizing, planning and conducting leisure time activities; knowledge of the Navy MWR mission and scope of Community Recreation activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests.
- Responsible with a pleasant, courteous attitude who can communicate effectively with the public.
- Will need to collect payment and operate a POS system.
- Schedule can include nights, weekends and holidays.
There is no educational requirement for this position.
Additional informationSalary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
