. The position supports U.S. Naval Air Station maintenance operations at NAS Whidbey Island and requires EA‑18G experience.
- Make repairs to aircraft and follow direction of higher graded workers.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, controls, anti‑icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, ventilation and heating systems.
- Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing and hydraulic units using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
- Read and interpret manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repair or replacement.
- Replace or repair worn or damaged components (e.g., carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, engine mounted gearboxes, compressor bleed valves).
- Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, perform preflight, thru‑flight, and post‑flight maintenance inspections, and perform miscellaneous duties (flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes).
- Supervise jacking and towing of aircraft, enter maintenance records, and verify work was performed satisfactorily.
- Service engines and airframe components at line station, performing repairs short of overhaul.
- May be required to be licensed by FAA; specialization required in sheet‑metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems.
- High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of job‑related experience.
- Three (3) years F/A‑18E/F or EA‑18G experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex malfunctions and perform complex Organizational Level Maintenance actions in support of the EA‑18G aircraft.
- Selected candidates must hold this job position for one year.
- Must possess necessary experience to inspect all assigned aircraft, certify Aircraft/Engine Logbook entries, and possess one or more specialties:
Propulsion/Engine and Fuel Systems;
Airframe/Structural, Landing Gear, Launch/Arresting, Wing/Pylon Fold;
Hydraulic/Pneumatic, mechanical Flight Control Systems;
Egress and/or Environmental Control Systems;
Aviation Life Support Systems;
Avionics Communication/Navigation/Identification/Electronic/Counter measures/RADAR and Weapon Control Systems;
Power Distribution/Electrical Power, Instruments, Compass, Automatic Flight Control and Lighting Systems;
Aircraft Armament;
Line;
Corrosion (Paint and Final Finish). - Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word‑processing and integrated software applications.
- Ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance and meet physical and medical requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization; U.S. Citizenship required.
- Position requires travel.
HIRING HOURLY Rate of Pay: $43.79 (Hourly rate set by CBA). Future rate: $45.10 on or around 1/1/2027.
