Position Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide piano accompaniment for liturgical celebrations. The accompanist workload of St. Patrick Catholic Church is shared between multiple accompanists.

This position could include all the following responsibilities or be decreased based on the availability of the candidate.

Essential Functions of the Position
  • Accompanist for St. Patrick Choir and/or Youth Choir
    • Attend rehearsals for each choir as scheduled.
    • Attend liturgies at which the choir(s) are scheduled.
  • Share accompanying responsibilities for single‑cantor or small groups with the other accompanist(s)
  • Openness to play for weddings and/or funerals, as requested.
  • Openness to play for other Worship‑related events, such as community holy hours, choir events, etc.
  • Have a collaborative relationship with the Director of Worship to support the growth and excellence of the music ministry.
  • Provide appropriate instrumental sacred music during Mass, when needed.
  • Operate the Worship Area sound system as needed: turn on system, set up microphones.

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Demonstr Herald piano proficiency as a soloist and collaborative accompanist.
  • Proficiency in playing from choral scores, traditional and contemporary hymns, lead sheets, etc.
  • Ability to improvise musically on the piano.
  • Ability to take direction from the director.
  • Arrive on time, organized, and well‑prepared to perform music.
  • Have a positive attitude and relationship with volunteers and other paid musicians.
  • Basic understanding of sound equipment, or willingness to learn.
  • Support the pastor and other liturgical leaders in fostering heartfelt, prayerful worship in our community.
  • Reply promptly to all communications.
  • Open to continuous growth and feedback about piano skills
  • Positively represent the Catholic Church
