Special Education Teacher

Arbor Park School District 145 seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our educational team.

• Plan, teach, and assess curriculum and instruction.
• Develop programs of study that meet differentiated learner needs.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate them effectively.
• Create a learning environment conducive to development levels of the classroom.
• Develop high‑school transition plans, including student interviews, goal setting, scheduling high‑school meetings, parent contact, and case‑management duties.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and related service professionals to provide appropriate supports.
• Employ diverse instructional techniques and media based on student capabilities.
• Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate records and progress reports.
• Communicate effectively with parents via conferences and other methods.
• Participate in curriculum‑development projects, material selection, and committee work.
• Pursue professional growth through district in‑service sessions and other opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement.
• Experience with co‑teaching preferred.
• Knowledgeable of curriculum and instruction.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, positive attitude, promoting District 145 programs and philosophies.

Based on placement schedule per the negotiated certified staff contract. Professional Negotiations Agreement.

Full‑time position, 7 hours/day, 180 days per school year.
