The Chief Software Architect is responsible for defining, evolving, and governing the end-to-end architecture of the myQ IoT platform at Chamberlain Group. The myQ platform underpins Chamberlain’s connected access product portfolio, enabling smart residential garage door openers, gates, commercial access solutions, video-enabled devices, and partner integrations that serve millions of customers globally. This role provides enterprise-level technical leadership across cloud and middleware platforms, IoT connectivity and services, video systems, and interactions with firmware & hardware, as well as all internal and external system integrations that power myQ residential and commercial solutions ving as the senior technical authority and architectural voice for the platform, the Chief Software Architect champions modern cloud-native practices, scalable architectural patterns, and strategic technology adoption, guiding engineering teams through platform modernization and continuous evolution.
In close partnership with Engineering, Product Management, and cross-functional stakeholders, the role translates business and customer requirements into cohesive architectural strategies and standards, ensuring the myQ ecosystem delivers secure, reliable, and seamless connected access experiences, while supporting rapid innovation across Chamberlain’s growing product lines and partner ecosystem.
Job Responsibilities:
* Role expectations balance 50% Architectural leadership, collaboration, technical and cost oversight, and evangelism with 50% Hands-On technical work designing, implementing, and executing on the most complex technical problems in the myQ Platform
* Create and maintain an Architectural Roadmap that supports all Software Engineering Roadmaps and Product Roadmaps
* Work with Architects to specify and implement architectural guidelines and standards for myQ Product and Application development
* Develop and drive how GenAI can influence, improve, and expedite software delivery
* Set standards and best practices to create reusable code, components, Data and Platform capabilities
* Lead technical discussions in community of practice, design review, or other technical meeting forums
* Communicate broadly, coach and teach Engineering Management, including roadmap reviews with Executive stakeholders to align with company strategy
* Can take the form of Proof-of-Concept development, technical assessments, or embedding with Product or Platform Engineering teams for periods of time

* Collaborate with other Chamberlain domain experts, such as infrastructure, data, and analytics, as the team develops features and platform enhancements
* Analyze requirements, collaborate with architects and senior engineers to produce thoughtful software designs of large scope and high complexity
* Provide mentoring and coaching to engineers and architects to increase the software capability of the development teams
* Stay current on modern technologies and innovations, which can further enhance and improve the commercial success of the MyQ connectivity solution
* Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
