Clinical Supervisor

Exempt/Non-exempt: EXEMPT

Immediate Supervisor: Director of Clinical Services

Salary: $62,000 - $77,000

Note: This position is for Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois. The actual pay will be based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor clinical interventions; review required service documentation provided by counselors for clients in the assigned geographic area and programs. Monitor counselor productivity, expenses, and revenue. May provide direct clinical services. Work may occur in office, community, or home settings or high-risk communities. May require extended hours in the evening and weekends.
  • Actively coach, hire, train, and supervise assigned staff, including leading a team of counselors; oversee professional development, performance, and daily operations. Maintain a trauma-informed system of service delivery and support clinicians serving individuals who have experienced trauma.
  • Provide weekly clinical supervision and guidance to counselors to enhance skills and ensure effective client care, including group supervision. Coordinate and facilitate training programs. Oversee the internship process for students providing clinical services.
  • Maintain effective quality improvement processes for the team; monitor key performance indicators and lead improvement initiatives.
  • Review client records for accuracy and caseloads for compliance with agency requirements. Approve assessments, treatment plans, services, and other documented counselor activities promptly.
  • Navigate electronic health systems; support the team in maximizing electronic health records usage while maintaining data integrity and confidentiality; ensure contract compliance and organizational functions.
  • Conduct regular treatment reviews of open clinical cases and engage stakeholders in collaborative problem solving.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to design and enhance treatment programs, incorporating best practices and innovative approaches to meet client needs.
  • Train and coordinate staff to respond to crisis situations; ensure clinical work is integrated with the care system and delivered in a youth-guided, family-driven, evidence-based manner.
  • Provide leadership in community engagement, developing relationships with local funders and service providers to maintain a coordinated system of care.
  • Oversee utilization of outsourced clinical services; approve referrals and monitor quality and costs. Manage and monitor budgets for assigned cost centers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Ability
  • Understanding of treatment approaches including Solution Focused Brief Treatment, Cognitive, Family Systems, Behavioral, Crisis Intervention, and substance use; knowledge of psychiatric medications.
  • Demonstrates WIDE values (Welcoming, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity) in work.
  • Broad management skills for running social service programs; understanding of insurance, managed care, and EAP procedures; familiarity with billing and funding options, including grants.
Background and Driving

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks (criminal checks, CANTS). Candidate must possess a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and must not have had a suspended or revoked license within the past three years.

Education and Experience

Master’s Degree in Social Work preferred; independent licensed professional (LCSW, LCPC) required and qualified to provide LPHA services in Medicaid. Experience providing individual, couple, family and group counseling. Experience in child welfare with youth and families exposed to trauma preferred. Experience with Medicaid documentation and billing preferred. Other certifications in related fields helpful.

Physical Demands

Typical office environment; ability to sit, speak, and hear. May require lifting up to 20-30 pounds. Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for physical limitations.
