Job Overview

A confidential organization is seeking a hands-on and strategic finance leader to oversee all aspects of accounting and financial operations. This role is ideal for a professional who enjoys both high-level strategy and direct involvement in daily accounting activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, compliance, team leadership, and supporting business operations.

Location: Western Suburb of Chicago, IL (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with applicable standards
  • Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and compliance
  • Collaborate with operational teams to align financial reporting with business activities
  • Manage accounting for service contracts and inventory
  • Supervise and mentor a small finance/accounting team
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Coordinate with external auditors and corporate finance contacts
  • Support business management systems and purchasing processes
  • Oversee invoicing and account management for customers
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including team leadership
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and compliance
  • Experience with inventory management
  • Background in project-based or service-oriented environments preferred
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Hands-on approach to team development and process improvement
  • Familiarity with business management software is a plus
