About the RoleBower Group, LLC is seeking an Asbestos/Lead Field Technician to support our industrial hygiene and environmental compliance projects in the Chicagoland area. This is a hands‑on field role focused on asbestos field inspections/surveys, PCM air sampling, and lead‑based paint (LBP) inspections/sampling across a variety of property types. Candidates should be detail‑oriented, safety‑minded, and comfortable working independently in the field with time‑sensitive deadlines.
- Perform asbestos inspections/surveys and building material assessments (ACM) in compliance with applicable federal/state requirements.
- Collect bulk asbestos samples and complete field documentation, photo logs, and chain‑of‑custody forms.
- Conduct asbestos air monitoring primarily using PCM (e.g., clearance sampling, background, area, and/or personal monitoring as assigned).
- Support abatement oversight activities including on‑site observations, documentation, and coordination with project teams.
- Perform lead‑based paint (LBP) inspections/surveys and collect samples as required (e.g., XRF and/or paint chip, dust wipe, soil—depending on licensing and assignment).
- Maintain, calibrate, and properly use field equipment (sampling pumps, calibrators, cassettes, etc.).
- Prepare clear, accurate deliverables using Microsoft Word/Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat/PDF.
- Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and internal staff while on‑site.
- Meet expedited schedules when needed, including short‑turnaround field work and reporting support.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures and maintain defensible documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat/PDF.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel regionally with flexibility for varying work hours and field conditions.
- 2+ years of field experience performing asbestos inspections and/or asbestos air monitoring (PCM).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with abatement oversight and clearance documentation.
- Familiarity with regulated building environments (schools, healthcare, commercial, industrial, multi‑family).
- (Equivalent Indiana credentials—IDEM/other applicable state programs—may be accepted based on project needs.)
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene,Biology, Geology, Public Health, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant field experience.
- Frequent walking/standing for extended periods, climbing stairs, and navigating active construction/abatement areas.
- Ability to lift/carry typical field equipment and supplies (typically up to ~40 lbs).
- Ability to wear required PPE/respiratory protection when applicable.
- Ability to work in active construction/abatement environments and wear required PPE/respiratory protection.
