Nursing student going into junior or senior year with at least one semester clinical experience in med/surg to support summer volume. Start dates will be May 18, 2026 and June 1, 2026.
Job SummaryThe primary purpose of your job as a member of the nursing staff is to assist the nursing staff under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will participate in a wide range of patient care activities, for a mainly geriatric population, functions and services for assigned patients, which include direct care and task oriented assignments.
Essential Functions:
- Implements patient care with clinical and technical aspects in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual patient needs.
- Implements physician’s orders and documents nursing intervention, patient response, effectiveness, complications, and communicates information to licensed nursing personnel.
- Consults with in-house resource personnel and departments for treatment.
- Respects dignity and confidentiality of patient and acts as an advocate.
- Provides a safe and secure environment for patient.
- Functions within the policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing department.
- Maintains calm and professional demeanor during crisis or emergency situations.
- Demonstrates accountability for quality of work and adheres to nursing dress code and identification pin.
- Demonstrates organizational skills in providing nursing care by adapting to changing workloads.
- Completes daily assignments within an 8-hour shift without compromising quality of care.
- Performs according to policy: temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight/height, 12 lead EKG, O2 saturation, pulse oximeter, ADL flow sheet, vital signs, weight, blood sugar, intake and output, restraint checklist.
- Prepares patient rooms on admission, daily, and upon patient request.
- Perfoms patient transportation and assists with specimen collection, glucometer use, and patient hygiene.
- Maintains open communication with colleagues and supervisors; documents according to policy.
- May be assigned additional tasks such as restocking rooms and equipment maintenance.
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No
Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - Data Conversion - Various Issuers required
Experience: Two years of RN nursing program including clinical rotations; 2-3 years required and 1 semester of medical-surgical clinical experience is required.
