Lifeguard​/Swim Instructor

Overview

The City of O'Fallon is looking for energetic and dependable team members for the position of Lifeguard
. This part-time opportunity offers a flexible schedule and a fun work environment. Lifeguards earn a competitive starting pay of $14.85 hourly, with the opportunity for increases every 750 hours worked.

As part of the Recreation Department, this position plays an important role in the safety of patrons of Renaud Center in and around the pool. Generally, you will work varying schedules of approximately 25 hours per week.

• Enforcing rules and policies
• Attending in-service training to remain certified
• Providing first aid when needed
• Cleaning the pool deck and vacuuming the pool
• Ensuring restrooms and guard office are clean
• Testing pool chemicals
• Providing information and top-notch customer service to patrons

• Great communication skills and interest in learning a variety of practical water skills, including water rescue
• Ability to learn department policies and procedures, including pool operation guidelines and chemical use
• Availability to work evenings and weekend shifts

• Exhibit self-motivation by continually seeking ways to improve knowledge and skills
• Respect others and their property
• Maintain assigned equipment with care
• Contribute to what makes O’Fallon a great place to live
• Have or be able to attain Jeff Ellis and Associates Lifeguard License (in-house certification training available)
• Have or be able to attain First Aid and CPR certification
• Lift up to 50 pounds, swim 200 yards, submerge feet first in 15 feet of water
• Be at least 15 years of age
