- Payroll Secretaries shall have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- A high level of competence in clerical skills as demonstrated by the District’s skills assessments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Office Suite.
- Assimilate all payroll-related information for processing.
- Assist in preparing and distributing all payroll checks in the school district.
- Assist in preparing and distributing the year-end W-2 forms.
- Become proficient with district time-tracking software.
- Maintain a record of staff leaves and absences.
- Open and sort daily mail (includes pony mail).
- Effectively communicate, verbally and in written form, with administrators, staff, and the community as needed.
- Maintain the confidential nature of all school-related matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Payroll Coordinator and the Director of Business.
- Operate office machinery.
- Attend in-service workshops related to the job description to remain current on pertinent topics related to the job.
MENTAL DEMANDS Ability to maintain highly confidential information; communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Write simple and complex reports and correspondence. Strong computer skills including Microsoft software and Google Suite. Ability to learn new systems and software.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly sit, talk, and hear. Frequently walk and use fingers and controls. Occasionally stand, reach, bend, lift, and carry up to twenty pounds. Close vision to look at a computer screen for long periods.
Terms of EmploymentEmployment is at-will for 12 months with two weeks vacation, beginning July 1, or from the time of employment for the duration of the school year with prorated vacation and/or personal leave. A work calendar will be provided showing the specific daily schedule. The calendar may be modified by the Board of Education as needs dictate. Eight hours constitute a workday.
The Director of Business Services will establish a definite daily schedule with approval from the Assistant Superintendent of Personnel. The yearly salary will be disbursed in twenty-four (24) equal payments.
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.
