The Electrician repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical apparatus and supporting electrical circuitry of the facilities power and lighting distribution system at the Nutley Campus.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of an Electrician at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
* Repairs, installs, replaces, removes electrical equipment such as lighting fixtures, transformers, switches, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, communication systems, wiring systems on air-conditioners, refrigerators, pumps, or other transmission equipment.
* Performs first line repairs on all defective equipment. Locates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
* Utilizes electrical and mechanical tools, hand tools, ladders, scaffolds, lifts, meters, etc. to perform required work.
* Performs other duties of Plant Operations as required.
* Works from blue prints, drawings, layouts or other specifications; assures work compliance with the National Electrical Code and local electrical regulations.
* Maintains areas undergoing electrical work in a broom clean condition.
* Reports to Facilities Manager or Director Items outside of specialized area in need of repair of other work.
* Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 8 hours a day.
Qualifications
Education,
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
* Vocational School or equivalent.
* Minimum of 4 years of electrician' apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training.
* Experience working with 480V AC Systems.
* Lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls a variety of electrical materials (weighing up to 50 pounds).
* Stands, walks most of the day and handles light equipment and objects; climbs on ladders, stoops, kneels and crouches to gain access to electrical wiring.
* Dirt, dust, fumes, grease, heat and cold, unventilated areas
* Required to do indoor and outdoor work.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
* Valid NJ Electrical license.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $34.65 Hourly
