The Business Development Engineer - Intern will support process-related projects within the organization, contributing to the design, production, implementation, and testing of tools used in customer-facing applications. This internship provides hands‑on exposure to real industrial processes and customer environments, offering practical experience in engineering support, process optimization, and tool deployment.
How you'll help the formula:Process & Tool Development:
- Support the design and development of process‑related tools, fixtures, or documentation.
- Assist in the production and preparation of tools for internal and customer use.
- Create and update technical documentation, work instructions, and test protocols related to process tools.
- Support the implementation of tools under guidance of experienced engineers.
- Assist with testing, validation, and troubleshooting of tools and processes during trials.
- Collect test data, document results, and provide feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Participate in process‑related projects from concept through implementation.
- Collaborate with engineering and cross‑border teams to ensure solutions meet application requirements.
- Support coordination of project tasks, timelines, and follow‑up actions.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical, or related field).
- Strong interest in mechanical engineering, tooling, and hands‑on technical work.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Good communication skills and willingness to work in customer‑facing situations.
- Experience with basic CAD tools, test methods, or manufacturing/process environments.
- Interest in automotive, industrial or manufacturing applications; preferred.
- Comfortable working in hands‑on, shop‑floor, or customer site environments; preferred.
- Local travel to Grand Rapids/Sparta up to 10%.
