Engineer, Senior

Job Description

• Leads and oversees commissioning activities for protective relays in substations.
• Develops and implements detailed commissioning plans, test procedures, and documentation for capital projects and system upgrades.
• Analyzes system performance and relay operations, including fault event analysis, misoperation investigations, and protection scheme validation.
• Provides expert technical support to field crews, contractors, and operations teams during installation, energization, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborates with design engineers to ensure protection schemes are accurately implemented and meet operational and regulatory requirements.
• Reviews and approves relay settings, coordination studies, and system protection designs.
• Prepares and presents technical reports, compliance documentation, and performance assessments to internal and external stakeholders.
• May mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing guidance on commissioning practices, protection principles, and field operations.
• Participates in strategic initiatives related to grid modernization, reliability improvement, and regulatory compliance.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Major in Electrical Engineering or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
• Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in a related area for Senior Engineer level.
• Power system coursework preferred for electrical engineering majors.
• Utility experience preferred.
• Possess sound analytical, problem‑solving and documentation skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the Company.
• Ability to multi‑task and work under minimal supervision, in a team environment.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
• Ability to learn and utilize job‑specific software.
