Mechanical Engineer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Leads advanced engineering pack mechanical fabrication, assembly, and debug activities to ensure successful delivery
- Designs integration of high-voltage electrical elements including bus bars and power electronics, and ensure electrical isolation of same
- Prepare packaging studies for all components and drive interface analysis and resolution
- Perform tolerance stack analysis and develop assembly location and datum strategy
- Identifies areas of risk and work quickly to prototype and mitigate these
- Engages with component suppliers to specify and acquire quotes
- Performs 3D design and GD&T drawings of complex parts and assemblies
- Optimizes designs via analytical, numerical, and/or empirical assessments
- Integrates seamlessly with both the vehicle and advanced cell architectures
- Performs self-guided R&D around novel pack structures and mechanical design
- Performs any additional duties as assigned
Required
Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
ExperiencePreferred
- 3D modeling experience using NX and Teamcenter
- Hands-on experience in leading hardware designs from conceptual design through proof-of-concept
- Hands-on experience performing sub-assembly and top assembly testing, including test plan ownership and model correlation
- Experience working in an R&D prototype development environment
- Familiarity with small-volume manufacturing technologies and methods, and experience working with outside suppliers for same
- Structural analysis of metals and/or composites, including test data processing, loads derivation and fatigue analyses
- Thermal management of mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience with design for challenging environmental conditions in terms of vibration, water intrusion, corrosion, and thermal
- Strong written/verbal communication and organizational skills
