Role:
Assignment Role, Employee Relations, People Function. Reporting to the Vice President, People, Technical Operations & Corporate Groups, the Employee Relations Director is responsible for execution of the Employee Relations Strategy across Bio Marin, including Technical Operations, Research & Development, Commercial and Corporate Functions. The role provides strategic and operational guidance on enterprise-wide employee relations activities, policies, processes, and procedures pertaining to Bio Marin US locations.
This position requires employee relations expertise, sound judgment, and strong analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills. The role supports business leaders to address workplace concerns and co-create action plans, providing intervention as necessary. It collaborates with business leaders to identify opportunities to prevent recurring employee relations issues and coaches managers at all levels to address behavioral and performance areas. The Employee Relations director stays attuned to organizational and operational changes to identify risks and develop proactive plans.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the management of employee relations processes and procedures to enable effective conflict resolution and problem solving.
- Conducting, overseeing, and assisting with employee relation issues to manage concerns and grievances and to identify and implement appropriate action and accountability practices.
- Identifying a fair and inclusive process for employee concerns or grievances, including fact-finding, due diligence, and investigations to ensure adherence to Bio Marin’s employee relations policies.
- Staying attuned to organizational changes to identify potential employee relations risks and develop proactive plans.
- Providing guidance and coaching to managers of all levels to address employee behavior and performance.
- Providing guidance and assisting with development and delivery of appropriate performance feedback or action plans, including corrective or disciplinary actions.
- Overseeing the use of effective documentation techniques and maintaining accurate, confidential records regarding all reported matters and fact-finding documentation.
- Interpreting and applying understanding of employee policies, employment law, and related regulations to provide guidance on ER matters.
- Maintaining high integrity when managing employee relations issues and reported matters.
- Experience with alternative dispute resolution, specifically workplace mediation.
- Collaborating with Legal, Compliance and Payroll to provide best business support.
- Guiding leaders to address investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, and related issues in line with policy principles.
- Providing insights to support development of employment-related policies and procedures.
- Supporting training initiatives and management toolkits for leaders.
- Proactively working with leaders to enable prompt resolution of people issues using best practices and policy principles.
