The general MRI technologist works either in a clinic or acute care hospital facility, collaborating with more experienced technologists under the supervision of a Lead or Supervisor MRI technologist. Reporting to the Manager OP Imaging Center, Radiology Administration, this role is responsible for performing MRI procedures, providing patient care, and assisting physicians during examinations.
Education & Experience- Graduate of an accredited ARMRIT or Radiologic Technologist ARRT program.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an ACR‑accredited facility or formal training with an accredited MRI program.
- High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. preferred.
- MRI experience within the last three years is preferred.
- California Certified Radiological Technologist Certificate (CRT) preferred.
- Valid MRI Certificate with ARMRIT or ARRT with a standing in good standing required within six months of hire.
- BLS required at hire.
- Venipuncture competency must be demonstrated within 30 days of hire.
- Infants Birth up to 1 year, Toddlers 1‑3 years, Preschool 3‑6 years, School Age 6‑12 years, Adolescents 12‑18 years, Early Adults 18‑45 years, Middle Adults 45‑61 years, Late Adults 61‑80 years, Late, Late Adults 80 years and up.

Duties & Responsibilities- Competently perform all diagnostic imaging examinations as outlined in departmental policy.
- Accurately correlate patient clinical history with the radiology exam.
- Use universal precautions and assist with clerical functions.
- Maintain and troubleshoot radiology equipment; communicate repair needs to service personnel.
- Prioritize work assignments and schedule workload to maximize productivity.
- Respond to emergency situations effectively and integrate them into daily workflow.
- Assist in training and orientation of coworkers and students.
- Keep current with changes, revisions, and continuing education in radiology information systems.
- Work is conducted in a hospital environment with frequent interruptions and a high noise level.
- Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of equipment and patients.
- Exposure to radiation, blood and body fluids, and cleaning chemicals; use of protective gear is mandatory.
- Shift length: 8.5 hours with a 0.5 hour meal break.
- Stand: 3 hours, Walk: 4 hours, Sit: 1 hour; lifting up to 100 lbs with occasional heavy loads.
- Requires fine motor skills, good vision, and the ability to handle equipment safely.
