AboutThe Role
As a Floor and Wall Covering Operative within Nottingham City Council’s Housing Services, you will play a vital role in maintaining safe, secure, and comfortable homes for our residents. Your work will include repairing, installing, and renewing wall and floor coverings, mainly vinyl type flooring and wall-boarding within wet-rooms, ensuring properties remain structurally sound and visually appealing. You’ll carry out fault-finding and remedial works, addressing issues such as damp, water penetration, and deterioration, while prioritising customer safety and minimising disruption.
This role involves a variety of tasks, from routine maintenance to specialised activities such as safe removal of non-licensable asbestos coatings. You’ll help prevent hazards, mitigate environmental risks, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Working with diligence and professionalism, you’ll contribute to high-quality housing services that reflect best practice and support resident wellbeing.
About YouThe ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in all aspects of floor and wall finishes including wet-room wall boarding and associated preparation works.
- Experience in repairs, new build, maintenance, or contract environments, including assessing and inspecting jobs, and updating records.
- The ability to use the necessary power tools and plant safely, as well as the ability to follow all safety procedures on and off-site.
- Experience of carrying out investigations and tests to identify faults and the root cause of issues and implement lasting solutions.
- Ability to use elements of the skills of other general trades to meet the target of first-time fix where it is efficient and appropriate to do so.
- Ability to demonstrate an organised but flexible approach, and the ability to meet deadlines.
PLEASE NOTE:
It is essential for this role that the successful candidate holds a current, full UK driving licence.
