Overview
We are looking for a qualified member of staff to help recruit Oncology patients to a wide range of commercial and non-commercial research trials within a long established research team.
The Post-holder will start at Band 5, over a 12 month period work through a research competency package provided by the Learning and Development Team, and once training is completed to the required level at the end of 12 months, will progress to Band 6.
The Oncology research team prides itself on delivering high quality clinical research. The research team works closely with multidisciplinary teams and works in an embedded way with frontline clinical staff. Team members have the opportunity to take ownership of their own portfolio of clinical trials whilst being supported by senior members of the team who have extensive research and clinical experience.
This allows staff to work in a supported yet autonomous way. We are committed to staff development both as a team and on an individual basis. Research is seen as a core element of our Trust activity. Responsibilities- Deliver trial drugs to include cytotoxics and immunotherapy in the dedicated research treatment room.
- Recruit Oncology patients to a wide range of clinical trials (commercial and non-commercial).
- Manage a clinical trial portfolio with supervision during the Band 5 phase and autonomous ownership after progression to Band 6.
- Deliver trial management with adherence to GCP principles.
- Work as a study coordinator under the guidance of Band 6 colleagues during the 12-month training period, progressing to autonomous work with own caseload.
- Engage in MDTs, work autonomously and as part of the team, and explore innovative approaches to recruitment.
- Support staff development and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior experience in oncology is preferred.
- Willingness to complete a 12-month training and competency package to progress from Band 5 to Band 6.
- Training in research trial management according to the principles of GCP.
- Ability to work autonomously as a Band 6 with own caseload after training.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
