We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to advance the 'REMEDY Plus' project, an expansion of a novel, data-driven, decision support system for UK dairy farmers, supported by Innovate UK. The core task will be developing, expanding, and automating sophisticated simulation models of complex dairy farm systems using Python. This role focuses on translating real-time farm data—including new energy monitoring feeds—into farm-specific 'what-if' scenarios.

The goal is to provide farmers and their advisors with calibrated tools to evaluate the outcomes of competing management decisions, thereby optimizing productivity, nutritional efficiency, animal health, and sustainability, particularly by reducing net carbon emissions and refining antimicrobial use.

The successful candidate will be a veterinary surgeon, with a PhD either completed, or close to completion, have expertise in Python programming, simulation modelling, and data analysis, ideally with experience in agricultural systems or complex biological/ecological modelling. The candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of academics, veterinarians, and industry specialists to ensure the models are robust, scalable, and highly relevant to end-users.

This involves integrating an unprecedented array of real-time technological and farm-based information into the REMEDY platform, directly addressing the barrier of time-consuming farm planning by providing real-time, actionable insights to improve herd-level and cow-level management.
