We are looking to recruit a practice nurse to join our team. We are a large, well-established team and are willing to support your growth and development as a practice nurse. You will work independently as part of the clinical team with the confidence to make clinical decisions and quickly learn new skills is essential. Good computer skills are needed for this role and knowledge of Systm One is an advantage.

This role may include home visits and the successful applicant must have access to a car for work, a UK drivers license and insurance for business use.

Practice nursing experience is desirable, but we would consider applications from any enthusiastic and dedicated nurse who is keen to work in general practice.

The salary is negotiable and dependent upon experience.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of practice nursing services care to the practice population.

Supported by senior nurses within the practice, they will deliver care within the boundaries of their role, focusing on supporting patients to be healthy, monitoring of long-term conditions, health prevention and screening activities. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership as required.

You need to be compassionate and dedicated to the care of others.

    Clinical practice

    • Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
    • Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that encourage patients to live healthily and apply principles of self-care.
    • Deliver opportunistic health promotion using opportunities such as new patient medicals.
    • Assess and care for patients presenting with uncomplicated wounds.
    • Support and advise women requesting information relating to family planning needs.
    • Support and manage health needs of women presenting for cervical cytology consultations.
    • Implement and participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children.
    • Advise, support and, where appropriate, administer vaccinations for patients travelling abroad.
    • Make referrals to appropriate outside services for full patient care
    • Perform Spirometry as required
    • Promote and deliver evidence-based care for patients presenting with aural condition.
    • Management of long-term conditions
